# The assistant

> Teach the assistant about the business, decide how it behaves and test it safely.

An assistant answers one Instagram account for a client. It's made of a few parts you can change at any time:

| Part | What it decides |
| - | - |
| [Knowledge base](/build-the-assistant/knowledge-base) | What the assistant knows: prices, hours, services, policies, exact FAQ answers |
| [AI brain](/build-the-assistant/ai-brain) | Which AI writes the answers, its personality and tone |
| [Behaviour](/build-the-assistant/behaviour) | What happens for messages, comments, story replies and mentions, and the welcome message |
| [Question flows](/build-the-assistant/question-flows) | Questions the assistant asks and remembers, such as a name, phone number or preferred time |
| [Languages](/build-the-assistant/languages) | Which languages it answers in, and translating its texts automatically |
| [Draft and publish](/build-the-assistant/draft-and-publish) | Working on changes without customers seeing half-finished work |

These parts belong to the assistant, so a client's second assistant (for another branch, say) can know and say different things. The business side (bookings, the shop, gift cards, the website chat, the portal and billing) belongs to the client and is shared. See [Clients and assistants](/getting-started/clients-and-assistants).

Every change is saved in the assistant's history, so any mistake can be undone.
